Project: Old and new

This was supposed to be only my class project for Interiors and Design subject at my University.
The apartment  I used for renovation and interior design had multiple problems to be solved regarding space organization. An old apartment, with old inner space organization rules and in pretty shabby state due to over 10 years of non caring. It was quite a challenge for a student, but after it was done (close to be finished) I was contacted by the owners and they seemed to be interested in making sketch end design become reality. I did do some changes to the original (marked project)  later on (in furniture choice) but concept stood the same.

Floor plan of the apartment. There are round stairs for the upper floor that I decided not to consider (it's space for atelier). Also, the owner stated how the upper floor will, in the future, be considered as separate space with separate front door (as small apartment for itself)

As seen in photos. Pretty chaotic situation with old furniture all around and damaged floors, walls and ceilings. The renovations had to be deep; from changing walls position (where it was possible - non constructive walls), to repairing existing walls and ceilings, changing floor covering, etc. It was all considered in the plan with precise instructions and exact materials.

I'm huge fan of white and grey color in interior. But to avoid sterile impression of the space in it's whole whiteness I used details and surfaces in grey and red. It's urban and modern (little futuristic) style as the owners suggested with space for rest and dining space separated by the tampon zone, which, in this case, is little library with space for sitting and reading. The problem with "walk through" rooms, that are not quite popular for family living, is solved by creating inner hall, harming one middle sized rooms, to create smaller room for the baby and bigger one for parents bedroom.
